The Hawk Hill

February 7, 2018

After being on the same bikes for 4 years, it's a big change going to a new suspension platform and geometry. My first experience riding a Marin was on the Hawk Hill. The first 5 minutes were a little weird, but once I got in the flow I couldn't get enough of it. This little bike shreds, every ride ends with me itching for more! Video from my first ride:

Featuring only 120mm of travel, I expected the Hawk Hill to be a little more twitchy feeling and not so confidence inspiring on higher speeds and bigger hits. Especially since it climbs easier than any bike I've been on. However, I was surprised with how stable and confident I was my first time on it. The bike is nimble and fun to throw around, but stable at the same time. This is an unreal combo! The low BB, longer reach, and slack angles give it this feel. This also makes it seem like the bike has way more travel than it actually does.

After a handful of rides so far, I can honestly say this is my favourite trail bike I've ever rode. I can't wait to get the rest of my new bikes built up. 2018 is going to be a rad year!
