Rossland is a special town to me. After competing in my first ever enduro race there last year for the BC Enduro Series I’d been coveting a return. I don’t ever race, but the riding terrain and vibe of this little mountain town was so unforgettable I had been daydreaming of going back just to ride. My lucky day arrived when I had the opportunity to come back this summer and stay at the Prestige Mountain Resort.
It’s been a hot, dry summer in BC with wildfires all over the place. As a result, the trails are dusty throughout the entire province and Rossland is no exception. Luckily the southern Kootenays are pretty sheltered at the moment and the trails are safe. During the first ride on Red Mountain we dropped into fast, loam-filled ribbons of flowing singletrack and jumps. This is the Rossland I’d been waiting for. Just as I remember, but even dustier!
Dirt surfing down the loamy bone-dry trails is as fun as it looks… as long as no one’s in front of you!
After a very hot morning on the trails, we took a mid-day rest and headed out to check out the town. The Alpine Grind was our favourite spot in town for a quick coffee and snack, and we ended the weekend with an epic dinner at Igies Restaurant! Thanks to the Prestige for the awesome recommendations and for making us feel so welcome with our bikes.

The Prestige Mountain Resort was simply awesome! Most of the time when I enter a hotel with my bags and a couple dirty bikes I don’t feel welcome in the lobby at all. This was a whole different story. They were quick to assist and provided an awesome little bike storage room located super continently close to where my truck was parked in the underground. If you get to Rossland this summer make sure to also use the code "3FOR2" and get 3 nights at the Prestige Mountain Resort for the price of 2. This includes complimentary lattes and pastries, free bike storage, late checkout and welcome gift... pretty rad deal!
