Krunk APP

January 15, 2017

There's this revolutionary new app on the block, known as Krunk. How it works: you search for and connect with active like-minded people in your area! When you find someone who shares the same interests as you, you can message them and invite them to an organized meet-up known as a"Krunk."

I had the opportunity to collaborate with Krunk on Instagram and it was a very unique experience. Not only was I promoting the app to my followers, but I started becoming very active on this app myself. With all the snow we've been getting on Vancouver Island these past couple weeks, I used this opportunity to invite people up my local ski hill. I made 3 separate Krunk events over the course of two weeks.

One feature I loved was being able to select the skill-level of your activity. For myself, I was trying to round up a crew of advanced snowboarders. Being an intermediate-advanced snowboarder myself I wanted to attract those who would come out and help push my riding.

Mount Washington has been getting hammered with snow lately and the conditions were absolutely epic every time I went up. Vancouver Island's #1 resort is known for getting lots of snow, and this season has been no different. Bluebird Skies and fresh power were on the menu for my first Krunk. For the first session I had one person show up and for the next two, two people came out to join me. We were so busy smashing laps out all day we barely stopped to take any photos.

I would say the app was an overall success. I have a couple new snowboarding buddies now who are able to join me on weekdays! It lacks a few features, such as being able to search for people outside of a 150km radius, and the ability to share your Krunks outside of the app. At the same time, it's kind of nice to keep everything within the app. With so many social media platforms out there these days, it's difficult to keep up.

Krunk is an awesome concept and best of all, it's free! I hope the app continues to grow. You can download it for iPhone at www.krunk.com
